 Members of the Quattro Horns

 

Quattro Horns has been active performing throughout Wisconsin for twenty-four years.  In addition to this quartet, members have extensive experience performing in other ensembles, composing and arranging music, lecturing, teaching private lessons and leading musical organizations.

 

Jo Hoffman has been involved as a musician in various forms for over fifty years. She pursued a vocal degree at the University of Wisconsin and later transitioned to horn playing and has been active in the Kettle Moraine Symphony, Lakeshore Symphonic Band as well as serving as a founding member of Quattro Horns.

Dain Shuler received his BM in Horn Performance from CU Boulder, MM in Horn Performance from Florida State University, and his DMA in Horn Performance and Pedagogy from CU Boulder. Dain has played professionally in many orchestras across the country, including the Boise Philharmonic, the Albany (Georgia) Symphony, the Tallahassee Symphony, and the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. He also has been a member of several professional brass quintets. Dain has been a band director for 25 years and is currently the Director of Bands at University School of Milwaukee, where he also teaches Music Technology. He received the Excellence in Instrumental Music award in 2012 from the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee.

Joe Hill is a founding member of the Quattro Horns, performing on a vintage Conn 8D French horn.  He is a member of the Lakeshore Symphonic Band, the Concordia University Brass Quintet, and Milwaukee's Ceremonial Brass.  Joe also tours Europe in the summers with the West Virginia University Alumni Band.  As Associate Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Joe manages the development of new drugs and medical devices.

H. Robert Dittmer has been a musician since studying cornet at the age of nine. He pursued a career as a music educator receiving a BME from Olivet College and a MM from UW-Madison.  Robert taught high school band for thirty-one years, the final twenty-five at West Bend High Schools, before retiring in 2011.  He is a founding member of Quattro Horns and is an active composer and arranger. Robert currently has five pieces in publication. In addition,he recently served as the hotline manager for COPE Services  where he worked for over six years.
